reference photo and sketches1) I created an interesting view point by making the giraffes nose bigger than his head/his body. I do like the way it turned out but I think it could have been more successful if I exaggerated how big the nose was more.
2)It is important to understand perspective because the part of the object that you are changing really makes it stand out and chases the eye of whoever is looking at it. It is important to know how to draw it because if you don't emphasis it enough it could ruin your whole piece. 3)The color pencils exercises were important because they gave you practice on how the colors blend and how to layer them correctly. The color pencils take longer because you do have to add lots of layers but it really makes your object stand out. 4)I used layering and that takes longer but it helps blending and you can add more colors in. All blended really well except the right ear I added a lot of black first and i couldn't go over it cause I did it too dark so when your layering you definitely want to do all your lights first and then add a little of your darks last and blend. 5)I created depth showing behind the nose a little darker kind of a shadow and also on my background around the head and some of the neck I tried to add a darker green. For my background I used cool colors because my piece is mostly warm colors so I thought it would make a good contrast and really make it stand out. 6)Some obstacles using color pencils is trying to finish layering and their still be some white spots it took lots of time to get everything colored. Blending does take awhile but the colors are very bright and really make the piece stand out. 7)I feel I was prepared and practiced colored pencils a lot before this project. I think it would have been better if we had a mini practice with foreshortening before. But it didn't take long to figure out how to draw it.
